Remark! Sponsors UK’s largest rock climbing event for the deaf and disabled community

Hosted by iDID Adventure C.I.C, Vertical Limits, Northampton was held on Sunday 17th March at the Pinnacle Climbing centre.

iDID Adventure C.I.C is an innovative social enterprise improving physical and mental health through access and participation in adventure sports. Specialising in events and adventure programmes for deaf and disabled individuals, iDID has successfully introduced a wide range of people to exciting sports such as rock climbing, Snowsports, indoor skydiving, wakeboarding and surfing.

Hailed as a success, the event saw a huge number of individuals descending on the Pinnacle in a bid to overcome their vertical limits!

The day began with a two hour introduction to climbing before some healthy rivalry in our competitions. With prizes including climbing equipment, clothing and a digital camera, participants battled with gritted determination to become our climbing champions!

Unphased by the challenges ahead, climbers took on the roof ladder, speed climb and top wall competitions until 4 individuals were crowned the winners of Vertical Limits.

iDID Director Susanne Rees commented, “The Vertical Limits event has successfully put deaf climbing on the map. The potential of all our climbers was phenomenal and I’m confident that we will see some climbing champions from the deaf community in the near future.”

iDID now plans to take Vertical Limits on tour with planned climbing events for Reading and Bristol in the spring.
